MRCOOL sells several lines at once and the names are easy to confuse:

DIY 4th Gen

— the mainstream pre-charged line, quoted at the higher SEER2 figures in the catalogue.

Easy Pro

— a lower-cost pre-charged line, quoted at a lower SEER2 and commonly with a shorter line set. Cheaper per BTU up front, more expensive to run.

DIY Multi Zone

— several indoor heads on one outdoor unit, ranked separately on the multi-zone page for the reasons set out there.

Where a listing states its efficiency in plain SEER rather than SEER2, the table says so. The two are different test standards and SEER2 reads roughly 4–5% lower for the same hardware, so a SEER figure is not directly comparable with a SEER2 one and we do not convert between them.

The typical MRCOOL system costs $155.81 per 1,000 BTU/h today, against $132.87 across all 40 systems with a live price. Both figures are medians of what can actually be bought now, and they move; the date above says when they were read.

What that gap buys is not visible in a price per BTU: MRCOOL is the one brand here with a dealer network, a labour warranty sold alongside the unit, and generations of the same line that stay in stock. The cheaper systems on the full ranking are mostly third-party sellers of newer brands, which is a real difference in what happens when something goes wrong — and a difference this site cannot price.
